Philomena was directed by Stephen Frears. It was aired at two film festivals. One in Venice and one in Toronto. It won awards at both for best screen play and peoples choice. This film made $24000000 in the box office. It was based on the book The Lost Child of Philomena by  Martin Sixsmith. Philomena was given a 7.9/10 star rating by IMDb.



My Summer of Love

My summer of love is an independent British film. It was directed by Pawel Pawlikowski.
This film had a budget of £1.7 million and ended up making £1,527,370.752 in the box office. It was first shown at the Edinburgh Film Festival where it picked up the award for the Best New British Feature Film, and then was shown at the Seattle International Film Festival. Firstly it was only given limited release across the US but then finally it was released worldwide. This film is based on the book by Helen Cross.
 
Control

Control was written by Matt Greenhalgh and Deborah Curtis. It's based on a real life story of a man called Ian Curtis and his experiences with his time in the band Joy Division. Control premiered at the Cannes Film Festival on 17 May 2007 where it won several awards including the Director's Fortnight, the CICAE Art & Essai prize for best film, the Regards Jeunes Prize for best first/second directed feature film, and the Europa Cinemas Label prize for best European film in the sidebar. Although it was British made it only really played in America and it made $8,159,508 in the box office.
